New lump found / Awaiting biopsy results
I was originally diagnosed in Aug. '04 with bc in my right breast. I've been through chemo, radiation, mastectomy and reconstruction, and began one year of herceptin in Aug.'05 and will finish this September. I went for my annual mammogram on my remaining left breast yesterday and they found a lump. I immediately had an ultrasound and then saw my surgeon and he did a biopsy. Will get the biospy results back on Monday. If lump is malignant, is it possible that it's a recurrence of my original cancer or would it be a second primary cancer? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. I'm seeing my oncologist on Monday, but I'm very anxious.
Thank you

Dear Stacy
The lump could be either a recurrence or a new primary or it very well may be nothing at all.
You have been through it all (I was diagnosed when you were and I am almost done with Herceptin - but had lumpectomy).
I did not tell anyone on this board that in April, I had a lump in my affected breast and it was normal breast tissue - radiation changes it and weight loss made it feel different. Even though you have had cancer, most lumps are still nothing but... waiting is hard.
Try to have a nice weekend and we will think of you here.
Kind regards
Becky

Stacy,
I know it's easier said than done but please try not to worry about the result of the biopsy. Yes, it could be cancer but then again it could just be a cyst. I truly hope that the biopsy comes back negative!

Keep the chin up, I pray it is just a cyst, and if it isn't...you fight back like all of us do....try not to worry until you get the answer...have a fun weekend, you are in my prayers for a good report.

Dear stacy,
You have come to the right place with worry about a biopsy result, how fortunate we are that you found us! As you can see, you have a lot of support here, as many of us have walked in your moccasins many times over. We know what that anxiety feels like, it is not easy this waiting....please stay with us and tell us the outcome.
love Kim from CT
ps Becky, next time tell us...none of us should be carrying this anxiety alone...
