I was pg when diagnosed, and had a mastectomy 5 days after my daughter was born. I was in such a hurry to have a prosthesis and wear normal clothes again....I waited 8 weeks post partum thinking I'd be my "normal" size (ie. after milk had dried up). Now, 4 months later, my remaining side has continued to "shrink" and I'm mismatched again (wish that side was the size of the prosthesis)! Insurance had already covered my quota for the year. So the woman ordering called up and talked them into a "medical necessity for weight loss" and told them my story (even though I've only lost 5 lbs. since then).

I know you guys have more important things to read than this, but I'm hoping I can make you smile. (Plus no one besides fellow survivors understand.) I never would have guessed 6 months ago that getting insurance to pay for a new, smaller prosthesis for my missing breast would put such a smile on my face. I was much more interested in getting a good minivan deal. Amazing how life changes.
