Off To Take Husband To Dana Farber Cancer Institute

I am posting this early since we will be leaving early tomorrow. We are off to DFCI and we are more excited than scared, again we have gathered all the ammo we can gather. Your thoughts and concerns will be coming with us too, after all My Little Warriors you are part of our ammo!! I find myself a better and stronger person just by loving all of you. Being a caregiver is a full time job in itself (work full time job & Avon Beauty Advisor full time) and can become overwhelming. I just want to say that when I read your posts they are a road into your souls and hearts. We are honored to have you in our lives helping us to fight this fight. Of course, we try to give back and as we go on in our journey we will be able to give more.

You see, the journey of cancer is a circle. Starts with diagnosis, knowledge, good doctors & care, response to treatment...all the way to giving back. You girls are terrific with the giving back and it is true as we travel on our journey we are better at giving back. I look forward to answering posts that are 'people' who are just finding out so I can give back. I always mention this site or links or I will keep a post alive until someone with more knowledge can give back. I will state what has happened in his journey with hopes that it can help in some way.

As we pack for our day in Boston I want to let you all know you will be traveling there with us. You are all in our hearts and we shall keep you there a lifetime. I shall always give back and even if there comes that day that I am without My Knight in Shining Armor I shall continue to keep his memory alive by ALWAYS GIVING BACK TO THE CIRCLE!!

I ask ( and I already know you will be there in mind & heart) that you send some good vibes our way today, Monday July 3, 2007. As excited as we are, we are nervous to hear the 'What Is'. Please say a prayer or think something inspirational at 11:00 today for us. We would really appreciate it. And girls.....thanks for being a part of that circle.....you complete us..!!...Waiting For A Miracle>>Believe51..(Marie G)

Hello Marie,

I hope you've had a most informative and helpful appt. with lots of good options.

I will be 'celebrating' five yrs with brain mets shortly (dx'd Sept. 4, 2002). I have had three occurances, 24 lesions throughout brain, including brainstem/pons. The largest being 1.5cm. I have never had WBR as I have refused from the beginning when there were just two showing on MRi. When 14 appeared six months later, those too were treated with focalized rads over the course of just over a years time.

My current 8 brain mets have 'behaved' by shrinking near 50% TWICE, staying stable with minimal edema, no new lesions on my chemo of Xeloda w/ and w/out Temodar. It will be two yrs on chemo for brain mets in August.

My partner, my darling of 17 yrs, Lyle, was just dx'd with Stage III breast cancer two weeks ago. He began tx of TAC last Tues. to shrink his tumor enough for surgery/mastectomy...

Lyle has had my back for the past 7 1/2 yrs. Now it's my turn to go to bat for him. After waking into a nightmare the first five mornings after his dx, a new day with acceptance and HOPE dawned.

Very best and warmest wishes to you and Ed,

pattyz
