Wink

Hi Meredith, I read this report with interest as I know a few people including nurse's who moved from the UK to Ireland to have herceptin as in the UK at the time one lady said she would have to sell her house to have it. I did'nt see Ireland mentioned int he report so not sure if it was included but I was dx in July '05 and had herceptin with no problems although it had only been approved for early bc some 3 weeks earlier!! Looks like I timed it well anyway

Although there's more to this story

The problem is more than just newer drugs, though. One of the cancers where the performance has been relatively poor is bowel cancer (usually called colon cancer in the US), but of course it because the screening program is almost non-existent. I think we would all agree that finding cancer before it needs chemo is more important and a better use of money.
