Chi Machine....not the hair straightener
Hi all-
I have been thinking about making a purchase but wanted to tap into the smartest people I know for advice. I have been trying to get as much range of motion and feeling back as possible after surgery last year. I have been doing Rolfing Structural Integration treatments and I am SOOO happy with the results. The most notable difference is in my posture. I am a horrible sloucher…but this has helped. Anyway, she recommended a Chi Machine. Has anyone ever used one and, if so, were you happy that you did/do?

I have a machine that makes Chi Latte's ... I just sprinkle a bit
of cinnamon on top ... yummy ...  I'm bad.

I have not heard of the chi machine, but am looking forward to hearing about it. I wanted to tell you that I love your blog! Great photos, too. Thanks for representing us on the research panel!

A friend of mine had/has a chi machine. I tried it a few times years ago. As I recall it made my back hurt a little but I might not have been using it properly. I'll ask her if she still has it and still uses it.

I just tried a chi-machine today for the first time... while I was waiting for my hubby to get his massage today, our massage therapist offered for me to lay with my ankles in the chi machine. It was pretty cool. I stayed on it for about 13 minutes...

Aug'07~ MRI - brain mets shrunk half, NO NEW BRAIN METS!!, TMs stable @ 9.2
Oct'07~ PET/CT & MRI show NED
Apr'08~ scans still show NED in the head, small bone spot on right iliac crest (rear pelvic bone)
Sept'08~ MRI shows activity in brain mets, completed 5 fractions/5 consecutive days of IMRT to zap the pesky buggers
Oct'08~ dropped Xeloda, switched to tri-weekly Herceptin in combo with Tykerb, extend to tri-monthly Zometa infusion
Dec'08~ Brain MRI- 4 spots reduced to punctate size, large spot shrunk by 3mm, CT of torso clear/pelvis spot stable
June'09~ new 3-4mm left cerrebellar spot zapped with IMRT targeted rads
Sept'09~ new 6mm & 1 cm spots in pituitary/optic chiasm area. Rx= 25 days of 3D conformal fractionated targeted IMRT to the tumors.
Oct'09~ 25 days of low dose 3D conformal fractionated targeted IMRT to the bone mets spot on rt. iliac crest that have been watching for 2 years. Added daily Aromasin back into treatment regimen.
Apr'10~ Brain MRI clear! But, see new small spot on adrenal gland. Change from Aromasin back to Tamoxifen.
June'10~ Tumor markers (CA15.3) dropped from 37 to 23 after one month on Tamoxifen. Continue to monitor adrenal gland spot. Remain on Tykerb/Herceptin/Tamoxifen.
Nov'10~ Radiate positive mediastinal node that was pressing on recurrent laryngeal nerve, causing paralyzed larynx and a funny voice.
Jan'11~ MRI shows possible activity or perhaps just scar tissue/necrotic increase on 3 previously treated brain spots and a pituitary spot. 5 days of IMRT on 4 spots.
Feb'11~ Enrolled in T-DM1 EAP in Denver, first treatment March 25, 2011.
Mar'11~ Finally started T-DM1 EAP in Denver at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center/Rose on Mar. 25... hallelujah.

Is it a big expense? I know that I am one of those people who buys things that sound good, but then I never use them..

I think my friend paid about $200 for her chi machine. She does use it still off and on and likes it. I'm going to try hers again, but I'm not sure if I'd buy one for myself. Like Bonnie, I may buy it and it would sit in the closet unused.

Hi Guys, I have a Chi machine, about a month now. My hip problems are bone spurs and little space between the ball and socket. My back problems are...standing up straight. It gets worse as the day goes on. The worse is when I first stand up after being seated for a while. It may take me 30 to 60 seconds before I can walk. The mussels in my legs are getting knots because they don't relax. The Chi really helps my legs work out those knots.
I hope the Chi machine will help with these problems. I am working up to 30 minutes morning and night. Also the Chi machine helps to fight cancer by putting more oxygen in your body.
This is great I will keep you guys posted. This giving me a great reason to be faithful with with this exercise.
It doesn't hurt... it really feels good. It also gives your organs a massage which help detox.
I lay on the floor.. put my ankles on the Chi ....watch TV and shake shake.
