Re: NHS won't pay for treatment that could keep breast cancer victim alive -Sir spher

When the government is the only provider and watch dog, citizens will be at the mercy of beaurocrat's hands. How scarry!

I vividly recall the nightmare we went through battling the insurance company in 1990 to get a special contract done so I could have my brain tumor resected by a Johns Hopkins trained neurosurgeon who just moved to our town three years prior. My supervisor at work hinted to the insurance company about a potential law suits mentioned by my doctor (which was a lie - my boss was the one who had got me an attorney who had videotaped our interview in case I'd never wake up from the estimated 16-18 hour surgery. It ended up lasted 23 hours.)

I've used up my COBRA and had sent in our application for Texas Risk Pool. It took them two weeks to notify us that the check was missing. Fortunately hubby had copied everything and told the staff over the phone our proof. It's been a week since we had sent in another check, and we haven't heard anything back yet. So I've been given 'loaned' Tamoxifen from the local pharmacy...

The 21st Century version of 'Whose life is it anyway' ironically has a totally oppsite meaning...
