Explain the benefits to me

This may seem like a dumb question, seeing that I have gone full force with getting on Tykerb as a preventative. But what would the benefits be of staying on it for 3 to 6 months. I originally thought I would be on it indefinately like I am herceptin but then realized that's not the case. I am thinking it would be to clear up any stray cancer cells that are in my body that are too small to show up on scans. Would it have any long term benefits on being on it for this short amount of time. Just second guessing now and wondering what the school for thought is on this matter. I know my oncologist will tell me he doesn't know if there are benefits. Take in mind I am stage IV, but currently in remission.sherryg683
