I would like to comment that from the knowledge of polymer chemistry I have been actively engaged in, I know of no plasticizer used in polyethylene, polyproplene and other commonly used household plastics that contain bisphenol A as an ingredient. People are too quick to accept the broad statement that bisphenol A is a common ingredient in plasticizers. So called vinyls are polyvinylchloride and its common plasticizers are various phthalates.
Polycarbonates are indeed made from bisphenol A. The residual amount of bisphenol A is rigidly controlled. Some unbreakable housewares could probably use polycarbonates as their major make-up.
Before we get too excited about this new "discovery", let us ascertain the facts first.
