I have read some reports on the use of Cod Liver Oil (of all things) as a treatment for the severe Hand Foot syndrome that often occurs with liposomal Adriamycin or Doxil. Actually only one patient was treated and the dosage was not mentioned. The Cod Liver Oil seemed to have a very positive effect in reducing Hand Foot syndrome in this patient. Ir is know Cod Liver oil has definite anti-inflammatory effects. One group of Rheumatoid Arthritis patients using Cod Liver Oil in a dosage of about one teaspoonful twice daily were able to reduce their dosages of Naproxrn like drugs (Nsaids) by 30%. Perhaps Cod Liver Oil would be helpful in treating the Hand Foot syndrome produce by other drugs such as Xeloda. Something to research.
