Xeloda is usually given in the 2 week on, 1 week off cycle. They have found that a dosage of 2500mg per day - 3000 mg per day is just as effective as higher doses. Xeloda transforms into 5FU in the body. Everyone is different as to side effects...I had minor hand and foot issues...but I was on it for almost 1 1/2 years and I found it to be a very easy drug to take. The important thing is to avoid extreme heat with the hands and feet, including hot water, as it dilates the capillaries and causes more of the medicine to be released into tissue in the hands and feet.
