Excellent article on epidemiology and its inherent pitfalls from the New York Times Magazine (you may need to register to view it, but its free):

We read and post so many articles on diet, enviornmental influences, etc., IMO, this article is must reading to understand the relationships between disease and whatever other factor is being hyped as a cure or preventative.
