All I can say is that growing up I believed that God decided this person will be wealthy, this person will have a "great" life, this person will be put into despair, etc. It wasn't until my 40s that I finally got it. God cannot dictate how our lives will develop (to a point). We are all on a different journey and have different things thrown at us. There are things that we cannot control. But, God is there for YOU when you need him. Doesn't necessarily mean you can give it over and it will be taken care of, but does mean that HE will give you what you need to get through it whether it be strength, courage, etc. Or, He might surround you with people (or boards!) that can ease the journey.
