IMPORTANT!!! End breast cancer by 2020

The National Breast Cancer Coalition has set a deadline of January 1, 2020, to end breast cancer.

This was the main topic at this year's annual meeting of the NBCC's advocacy training conference in Washington. The conference was attended by breast cancer survivors from around the country, as well as international survivors. On Tuesday, we all headed over to the Capitol to discuss the deadline with our representatives, including funding in 2012 for the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Project. The NBCC is tired of what it considers as small, incremental steps to cure breast cancer and is calling on scientists from all disciplines to brainstorm for a cure.

Here's something about the deadline to end breast cancer by 2020 by Fran Visco. As the president of the NBCC, she is a survivor who at age 39 and a practicing attorney developed breast cancer. At that time her son was only a few months old:

At the conference, Dr. Slamon spoke, as well as Dr. Love, among other doctors and scientists. I was finally able to thank him personally for his persistence in developing Herceptin, and as you can imagined, he was mobbed for photo shoots by many thankful HER2+ survivors!

Get out the word to your healthcare providers.
