I so agree with Elaine and Trish! Ask for a MRI so you can get an answer right away. My story is too long..but let me tell you I did have bone mets to hip my and was told by several onc's that my hip was fine. They were going by regular x-rays, bone scan and PET/CT. I have a bad feeling about my right hip and I put my foot down and told my onc I wanted a MRI. She finally OK'd it and come to find out I was right...I had an impending fracture that could not be seen on my the X-Rays, and scans. I was due to start chemo at the time and that could of cost me some serious problems had my femur broke.

The MRI will give them the information they need and leave out all doubt. Plus save you from more needless waiting and wondering. MRI's are more expensive so they might not be as quick to say yes...but stick to your guns. Good luck and keep us updated.

9-28-09 Loading dose of Herceptin & started Zometa
9-29-09 Power Port Placement
10-24-09 Mass 6.4 x 4.7 cm on Rt. femur head.
11-19-09 RT. Femur surgery - Rod placed
12-7-09 Navelbine added to Herceptin/Zometa.
3-23-10 Ten days of rads to RT femur. Completed.
4-05-10 Quit Navelbine--Herceptin/Zometa alone.
5-4-10 Appt. with Dr. Slamon to see what is next? Waiting on FISH results from femur biopsy.
Results to FISH was unsuccessful--this happens less then 2% of the time.
7-7-10 Recurrence to RT axilla again. Back to UCLA for options.
