Ruth, I'm sorry to hear the news about your Mom's friend. I've never heard that phrase before-"comfort chemo.", maybe someone else here has. From your post, I can't tell what part of her bloodwork is unstable, but if her bilirubin is too high, there are very few chemos. they can give her without quickly creating a high toxicity level within her liver.
