Dr. Cantley's explanation that sugar causing spikes in insulin that can stimulate cancer cells that have insulin receptors (1/3 of breast cancer cells were mentioned as being this way), seems to support the idea that Metformin (the diabetes medication) should be helpful to many breast cancer patients since Metformin has been shown to reduce insulin spikes when reacting to the ingestion of sugar and other carbohydrates.
