Becky,I agree these long term delibitating side effects concerning the jaw are just not worth the risks for simply harding the bones but as Steph pointed out IV Biphosphonates may be needed for life saving measures involving stubborn bone mets. For those with just osteopenia, like myself, there are other alternatives, vit D, calcuim, exercise, diet, and the omega3 to 6 balancing.
