When my breast cancer metastasized to my lungs, my oncologist and I followed a something in my chest for about 2 years till I insisted on having a PET scan - (medicare didn't cover them for another 4 months). We discovered that while there was metastasis in my lungs it was not the something we had been following. What we had been following was was calcified or dead. Since then I only rely on PET scans. I have had two of the new combined tests and if they have new equiPment, like the last one I had, it's like having a Physical - kidney stones and other Problems I didn't know I had showed uP but the metastasis was gone. The CAt is great for telling you where it is, but the PET is the only one which will tell you if it is active. At least that has been my exPerience.
