Wonderful news. Im with you on this subject. A drug called Movantik was recently approved. It is used to treat opiate use induced constipation. This is a big problem with cancer patients who need chronic opiate therapy. The approval specifically reads "Movantik is approved for non cancer opiate induced constipation. In other words if you are a cancer patient on narcotics and develop intractable constipation, the insurance companies wont pay for it. Because of the wording of the approval using Movantil to treat opiate constipation in cancer patients becomes"experimental." What sheer nonsense. Saving insurance companies money to please their lobby should not play any part in the drug approval process. What should be science has degenerated into politics.
