I made the same decision to have a double. I knew it was right for me because I didn't want to have to go through it again-I was so glad I did because I also had a dcis that no imaging found (and let me tell you I had every imaging modality known to man (well woman). The recovery from the surgery and chemo took time but I was able to get back to the gym and swimming as soon as I was healed enough.
I just had my nipples tattooed last week and am thrilled with having a nearly normal chest. The nurse who did the tattoos is also going to do eyeliner as my treat to myself for getting through everything.
I know you will do well and like so many on this site find yourself stronger in so many ways. Soon this part of your life will be behind you.
