I'm no doctor, but it sounds like anaphylaxis. am extreme allergic reaction that can develop suddenly - you eat shellfish for 20 years with no problem, then suddenly you get a horrific allergic reaction. I had an anaphylictic reaction to penicillan when I was 19. I'm lucky to be alive and so is your dad. God bless.
