What does it mean?

Hi Marjorie. Interesting, isn't it? Until the trial with low-dose testosterone was done for breast cancer survivors, it was thought that the reason that testosterone was risky was that it broke down into estradiol, and as we know, more estrogen isn't helpful to us.

But that trial indicated that testosterone does not break down into estradiol. So the question here is, what is it about testosterone that would increase risk? Is it not the testosterone per se that is dangerous to us, but rather possibly an imbalance among all the key hormones that occurs in some women? If so, throwing out the testosterone might not be the answer so much as figuring out what the right amount of other hormones should be.

The info from this article doesn't measure what is going on with other hormones in these women, but it is interesting information.
