Re: Chemo-induced Osteoporosis: Seeking Healthy ways of Rebuilding Healthy Bones

There was a promising trial of tomato paste and post-menopausal Italian women a while back. Of course, I can't find it now. The one-off bone loss from chemopause is substantially higher than from...

Yes, a few. The place to find the definitive list is the clinicaltrials.gov website.

If you ever develop heart failure, mention treatment

Interesting article in yesterday's Washington Post. Key points: follow heart-healthy lifestyle and, if you do develop heart failure, tell the doctors that you have had cancer treatment because...

Smile Re: UK Trial shows promising results for early lapatinib + herceptin

Thank you. It is so sweet that you remember me. I am so glad to see that her2support is still going strong. I just wish that Christine Druther had been around to see this result. It feels like...

Re: Hunger in youth linked to breast cancer

Some Dutch researchers have done a series of articles based on a famine in the Netherlands at the end of World War II. These indicate that calorie restriction before the age of 10 has serious...

Re: pH Balanced Gel for atrophic vaginitis in bc survivors

I have tried the lactic acid gel and it does make a difference, although it is a bit messy. There can be a problem with stinging, so it might be easier to ease in with something that gets the vagina...

Re: Diagnosed high-risk in 1993 and no recurrence

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I am now eight years out. Still doing well, but just very busy with work and all.

Re: Ovarian suppression before and during chemo reduces early menopause

Good stuff. It is a bit discouraging, though, that the doctor at the end only seemed to think about avoiding pre-mature menopause as only being about fertility. Chemopause is also associated with...

Re: Please let me know what you think i should do next

You could try to go private, but it might be expensive if you are not a patient. The local BUPA hospital wanted 60,000 from me for a year of herceptin before it was on the NHS, partly because they...

Re: CNN Report Promising Cure Vaccine

I was also a bit disappointed that this is being talked about in the press as something that will prevent all breast cancer in the future when the vaccine will not do anything to prevent breast...

Re: 2 years vs. 1 year on Herceptin

The results of the two year arm have in the past been promised at particular conferences and then not materialised. It would be nice if this time something came out regarding the effectiveness.

Re: CEP17 seems to be key to anthracycline susceptibility

Yes, of course, these treatments should not be taken too lightly.

At the same time, some patients do benefit. In Bartlett's earlier work, it seems that at least 15 out of 100 women benefitted...

CEP17 seems to be key to anthracycline susceptibility

I figured that this one is a pretty important answer to a pretty major question: who actually benefits from those potentially cardiotoxic anthracyclines.

Re: twice weekly aspirin use may decrease bc survivor's risk of metastasis by 62-71%

It is actually the full version of the article that I was able to get off the JCO website, not just the abstract.

Here is what it says word for word:

"We lack details on aspirin dose. If there...

Re: twice weekly aspirin use may decrease bc survivor's risk of metastasis by 62-71%

Hi Lani,

Nice find. I checked the JCO website and the full text of this one seems to be freely available (although sometimes websites recognise my computer, so I am not entirely sure).

Anyway,...
