Re: What's the difference between HER2 and HER3

As rhondalea said, that pathway (her3) is still under a lot of research and not ready for primetime. Lots of people have been working on it, and we've heard Dr. Osbourne talk about researching it at...

Re: Evidence Mounts on Heart Failure After Trastuzumab in Breast Cancer Survivors

Just FYI, Tykerb (with first Xeloda and then Herceptin) works long term for some... 3 years for me. Avoided WBR because of Tykerb, was able to do 'wack-a-mole' instead. For me, and several others, my...

Re: TMD1 is coming!

I would call Genentech/Roche, they will know locations. Yes this FDA has "it out" for the pharma company... you know how I feel about this FDA. Possibly TDM1 approval mid-Feb. Just one girl's opinion.

Re: and what have your HERs been up to? Scientist ID many more interactions of her1-4

Dr. Osborne and his research team at Baylor in Houston have been trying to answer the Her 3 question for at least a few years... working hard on this. Steph's comments are clear and correct!...

Re: TMD1 is coming!

That's a question for them when your husband calls, for your clin trial coordinator, or for Sonali at Genentech.

Re: lapatinib greatly increases doxorubicin cardiotoxicity

Good to know... thanks Lani. Only had Tykerb with Xeloda and then Herceptin.

I had Adria/doxo 4 years earlier as first line treatment. Sounds like Her2 folks ought to steer clear of doxo, since...

Re: Gammaknife, Tykerb...reality check

I was on Tykerb for almost 3 years, 18 mos w/Xeloda, 18 mos w/ Herceptin... It ended up not fickle for me. When I dropped Xeloda for Herceptin, things got even better.

Re: Evidence Mounts on Heart Failure After Trastuzumab in Breast Cancer Survivors

Just wondering if folks on it know to have a knowledgeable cardiologist on board, and are taking either or both Lisinopril or Coreg? (ace inhibitor and if needed a beta blocker)? As well are they...

Re: Intrathecal (IT) Herceptin (Trastuzumab) for brain mets (Leptomeningeal Metastase

Thanks Mario... as my quote said, "... it is available anywhere that you have an Onc who does it and insurance covers it." I think that is the same thing, no?

Re: TDM1 EAP - Good news for those in TDM1 EAP study who need to travel

I travel Texas to Denver every 3 wks for compassioate use, and the so far the study has not provided housing (a yr and a half). So, I fly in and out the same day.

Re: TMD1 is coming!

And I believe they will be enrolling up to 300 more folks in the EAP... at all locations, including the original ones they first mentioned before they needed to cut it off for more data. At least I...

Re: zometa or reclast with no mets to bone?

Yes... if you can avoid bone mets, avoid them. It might be an opportune time for you to try out denusomab. Just know that there is no known best treatment cycle for it or Zometa. I did every month...

Re: TMD1 is coming!

It is fantastic news. I heard this possibility a couple of weeks ago, but didn't want to overstep my boundaries. I may be wrong, again... but while they are in process, I think Gene/Roche will open...

Re: Anxiously Waiting

I may be wrong, again... but I wouldn't be surprised for Gene/Roche to open compassionate use again once they submit more data to the FDA and are waiting for the approval. JMHO.

Re: large retrospective study: Local estrogen use does not increase recurrence risk

Just know (as I have found out) that you are not supposed to use Estring or Estrace, etc if you are on the TDM-1 EAP.

Re: I couldn't make this up if I tried

EXACTLY, Sheila. Cuss words and all. Herceptin mixed with water, call Genentech if you have to... YOU ask, screw the current doc, can't wait for you to get that new one! And a brain MRI. Since you...

Re: Something to think about... (not b/c specific)

Good. Different views are great. Never said I agreed, just said something to think about... too many folks read headlines and not the substance.

Re: denosumab superior to Zoledronic acid in Stage IVs with bone mets

Because Zometa is working. The grass might be green on the other side, but it is just as green here... we don't change until the former stops working and we need to. I have no side effects at all...

Re: Obsessed with tumor marker number?

Elevation after one lab is not to be worried about. They can jump around.

As I was told, if 3 readings keep inching (or jumping) up up up, then I would start looking for the cause.

I,...

Re: denosumab superior to Zoledronic acid in Stage IVs with bone mets

I have been told that if Zometa is working, then it should not be changed. If it stops working, then try denosumab.

I have been on Zometa for over 3 years and it is working great.

Re: Question?

I had a baseline PET when I finished chemo... about 9 months after I completed the very first chemo. I was stage 2B. I was too early, though, to get Herceptin, so I did not get Herceptin until I...

Re: Denied compassionate use of TDM1

Ahhhso... you applied in Australia for treatment in Australia? Yes, it might be different than the US. It's also entirely probable that Roche in Basel has different global guidelines for clumps of...
