Re: trends that weight management is going to be important in treating HER2-positive

I'd like to know people's thoughts about this study vs weight gain with the estrogen fighting drugs (particularly arimidex, femara, aromasin). I seem to be seeing some pretty strong anecdotal...

Re: Half of breast cancer patients treated with antihormonals are noncompliant ie, do

Kathy's post about her swimming being limited above brings back the issue of a) excercize being a proven benefit for bc, with an added benefit for er+ cancers! and b) better statistics for thin women...

Re: Half of breast cancer patients treated with antihormonals are noncompliant ie, do

I am interested in this thread. I am very concerned about the suffering that women have while on these drugs. Ruth has only been on Armidex for a short time, (after a couple years on Tamoxifen,...

Re: new trial proposed--diuretics for AI induced arthralgias (aches and pains)

Caya,

Are you having trouble with aches and pains from the AI even with your old diuretic? I guess if you've been on it for a long time you don't know if they would be worse without it...

Re: Recurrence vs. Metastatic

However, there have been a few cases right here on this board who have had extremely long remissions and still to date have no cancer...perhaps this points towards the possibility that a few...

Re: new trial proposed--diuretics for AI induced arthralgias (aches and pains)

Sassy,

I am happy to see your reply! How did you get going early on this...was your onc on top of this?

Also, what dosage of lasix do you take and are there any side effects from the...

Re: Recurrence vs. Metastatic

Hi Shonda,

Dr. O is Ruth's oncologist; perhaps we have sat in the same waiting room at Baylor?

Wishing you the best...

Re: new trial proposed--diuretics for AI induced arthralgias (aches and pains)

Interesting Lani, considering the misery that AI's have caused some women. Ruth's doing pretty well so far save some stiffness in her knees.

Re: AI's, etc effect on estradiol

Thanks for your kind reply Becky. :)

I suspect that the efficacy of Femara and Arimidex are very similar as their mechanism is very similar. It is interesting, tho, that there is a distinction...

Re: AI's, etc effect on estradiol

I am interested in the sustained side effects vs efficacy also. I know you've been doing very well, but it seems so many are really suffering with these AI drugs. We met a woman on our recent cruise...

Re: Neratinib Clinical Trial

...and, is this something causing acidity like chemo does? Ruth would have been lost without her Omprazole during chemo, I wonder if something like this would help.

Re: Neratinib Clinical Trial

I also wonder if L-Glutamine would help; it is good for the stomach lining. Ruth took bentonite (clay?) at the early stages of her chemo. It held off the diarreha longer than others however she...

Haven't seen it Margerie. This whole scene shocked me...but it also shocked me how much information we DON'T seem to have regarding the more specific details of these drugs.

Has there been a...

Re: Neratinib Clinical Trial

Are (file://\\Are) you allowed to take supplements during this trial? Perhaps a regimine of really good probiotics would help some. I'm not certain of the mechanism of this diarreha, but usually it...

AI's, etc effect on estradiol

Question,

Has there been clear differentiation made on how the various AI's and tamoxifen target the various kinds of estrogen? In particular, targeting estradiol, which I believe is the most...

Re: getting her2+ER- bc to reexpress ER & consequences more complicated than thought

Has there been any studies for fulvestrant or exemestane (Aromasin) vs the non-steroidal AI's for non-metastatic HER2 breast cancer?

I"m also not clear on where fulvestrant fits into the picure...

Re: getting her2+ER- bc to reexpress ER & consequences more complicated than thought

Rich,

Could you send me to the studies or articles ( or a thread here?) that reference what you said about fulvestrant being possibly better for HER2 cancer?

THanks much!

Re: Neratinib Clinical Trial

Kriss,

Ugh. Hang in there!

Kind of an odd "blind" trial when the side effects are so evident. Did you react upon the very first dose? How many doses did you take?

Wishing you luck,

Re: Bone mets, osteoporosis and strontium

This is interesting. I have a friend that is trying to help a woman with osteoperosis in Kosovo and cannot afford the usual bone building drugs. I will foward to her.

THanks

Re: Here's the latest on TriciaK

Tricia,

Such a special soul you are. I've been keeping track of you since the 1st day I was on this board. (Maybe it's my Swedish roots!)
I wish you the very, very best.

Hugs
