Lymphadema?

Hi girls- as anyone else experienced lymph-edema in their mastectomy scar area and under the arm 1 year or more after their surgery/treatment.

History: Light lymph-edema in arm and underarm after surgery. The lymph-edema disappeared for about 6 months now seems to have come back with vengeance, lymph node knots and swelling in arm/underarm chest pressure for the last 2 weeks.

Hoping wait it out and treat "as usually" sleeve and flex-e-touch suit..... not really fazing it keeping in control maybe but not making it go away.

Any suggestions or been there's

Thanks
kelly

Re: Lymphadema?

Hey Kelly,

So sorry you are having this issue. Just to be sure, have you been to the doc to check this out since the flare up? I did not have lymphadema, but did develop a strange infection at mast site that went all the way around to my back and landed me in the hospital for almost a week a YEAR after surgery. Just want to be sure you have had this checked out and there is no sign of infection.

Hope for relief soon, keep us posted.

Re: Lymphadema?

Hello Kelly,
Rhonda's right, see your doctor. Ask for a series of lymphatic physical therapy sessions - should help. I was bitten by something and 15 years after surgery my hand and arm swelled up so do always be careful about pricking it or getting bitten - immediately disinfect anything. The physical therapy should work and learning some exercises.
good luck
sarah

Kelly this didn't happen to me but would agree to have this checked out with a PT!
