KADCYLA (T-DM1) - Name Rationale
Hi everyone -
I have noticed mentions in a few threads regarding why T-DM1 got the name "Kadcyla." (I often use word association to recall new terms or names. Godzilla was as close as I could come on this and that just stuck since the first time I wanted to remember the new name. Here is what the name does stand for: The "adc" in the center of the name stands for "antibody-drug conjugate," the first approved drug in this class, and the "cy" in the name stands for "cytotoxic," or cell-killing. Guess they thought that "K" on the front counded the best. The prefix "ado" was added to ado-trastuzumab emtanzine - prefix to reduce confusion with trastuzumab (Herceptin). |
