Passing On Good Things (Nail & Skin Products)

For those of you suffering from broken, peeling, onion-skin thin nails from treatment, a friend and fellow survivor told me about Quimica Alemana Nail Hardener. Nothing worked for her nails except this, and within just weeks, she had long, gorgeous nails again--an asset she prided herself on.
Also, for extremely dry heels and bad hands, my onco nurse recommended Callex. I've done pretty well with the old tried-and-true remedies learned in beauty school (Vaseline and cotton gloves), but she tells me this product works far better than any. Willing to try.
Good luck, all.

Hello,
First of all, I'm always amazed to read that you survived WTC so traumatic.
Here in France there's a product called Evonail that's great. My nails never recovered until I started using it. It's not glossy like a nail polish, just disappears into the nail.
Health and happiness
Sarah

Hi, Sarah,
Yes, I'm amazed myself that I got out of that, especially looking at the aftermath. While in it, and before the destruction, I'm not sure any of us could've believed it'd be that bad. I keep it in my medical signature but I am ABSOLUTELY positive it had a major affect on my overall health.
Thanks for sharing Evonail. I'll bet I could find it if the other one isn't for me, possibly on EuroBeautyMart or the like.

It literally took two years after carbo/taxanes to get my nails back. They never turned black but they did get very weak and thin. They are normal now, on Navelbine. I hope they stay that way on Xyloda but from what I hear, that may not happen.

I found Evonail on this website and just ordered a bottle. Thanks so much for the tip.

Karen,

Thanks for the tip on strengthening nails. I keep mine very short, but sometimes they split.

You know, it seems like such a small thing but my nails have yet to recover fully from chemo. I will look into these products. My nails have never been strong but since chemo they break and peel so easily. I keep hoping that thye will improve but not yet. Thanks.

Thanks! my nails are sooooo bad. I could just look at them and they seem to peel or break off. I have tried everything and nothing has worked... I'll give this a shot :)

Re: Passing On Good Things (Nail & Skin Products)

I received the Quimica yesterday and I notice a difference already! I am used to walking around with a nail file all day. Today I don't have to! I read all the reviews on Amazon (in one case there are 94 with a 4-star average rating) and listened to my source about possible burning when applying. It didn't burn, so I tried a second coat, and then it did burn a little. It felt queer but stopped after an hour or so. It's better than my nails hurting all day. So, for what it's worth, looks excellent--
Karen
