What to do for stomach cramps from Tykerb!
My daughter's experiencing this side effect of Tykerb and I wondered if anyone else has this and what they do for it? I've been off the boards for about 3 weeks due to the fact that my boyfriend was involved in a serious auto accident and is still hospitalized so forgive me for not posting much, but you are all in my prayers each day. My best to you all

I had this problem in the beginning mostly at night. It seemed to be caused by excess gas. I took over the counter medication for it, but I am currently not at home an can't remember what it was called.
Good luck. Barbara H. |

I take 2 immodium a day as a preventative and it usually helps. Also I have to avoid heavy, fried foods otherwise my stomach acts up. Ceesun

I eventually opted for 1/2 to 1 capful of liquid immodium every morning to set the tone for the day. It really helped. But even then, I had to eat VERY clean and healthy. No junk, no fast food, no fried food, no cokes... lots of water.
Also, what is her dosage? Some who have struggled with the full 1250mg (5 pill) dose have dropped it to 1000mg (4 pills) due to digestive distress, and have still received full efficacy, I believe. |
Re: What to do for stomach cramps from Tykerb!
Joyce,
I take Tykerb 5 pills in the morning on an empty stomach, wait one hour before eating, and I do not have cramp, sometimes mild diahrrea (sp?). My oncologist told me to take it on an empty stomach to avoid stomach problems, and it has worked for me. Maybe she should try taking it. I hope she feels better soon. Hugs, KarlaV. |
