Documentary Iv'e been involed w to be on PBS
Hi all,
A documentary entitled ,"In the Family" which I was involved in, will be aired on PBS the evening of October 1st. The film, 3 + years in the making is about hereditary breast and ovarian cancer and highlights the producers personal journey. I hope you can find the time to watch! For show time and more info... http://www.pbs.org/pov/pov2008/inthefamily/preview.html http://www.pbs.org/stationfinder/index.html P.S. I will be one of the bald ones!LOL Hugs, marcia |

I placed it on the calendar...can't wait to see it. At this point in my life, chemo and age dictate writing notes to myself! |
BTW, FORCE (www.facingourrisk.org) will have extended chats and the helpline will be available for anyone with questions after the film airs.

I marked on my calendar too!

Thanks for doing this! I will let my Daughter know about it also. She is 26 this month and has known for about a year now.
|
Marked it also...thanks for telling us Marcia!

How exciting! I'll be sure to watch it.

Making a difference
Marcia, how exciting, especially with your steady commitment to helping others with ovarian cancer and breast cancer -- I can't wait to see it -- and to have it presented by PBS is outstanding!!
I'll be there watching and lifting a toast to you, AlaskaAngel |
THX all! I appreciate it.
Alaska, thank you! I am on the screen for about 10 seconds and making jokes about "selling my Playboy Bunny costume to pay for chemo" ...irony is the Hefner Foundation funded the film and when Christy Hefner saw that part she chuckled quite loudly,or so I am told! Kimberly, There is a great book out there that I highly recommend for your daughter the title is "Pretty is What Changes". It is about the distinctively different decisions young "previvors" are faced with. I had the pleasure of meeting the author,Jessica Queller(who is BRCA+ & writer for Gossip Girl,One treeHill etc)and she is a wonderful role model for her generation. Another book you might relate to is "Apron Strings...Inheriting Courage , Wisdom and Breast Cancer " by Diane Tropea Greene. Kim ,FORCE has "dedicated" message threads specifically for the younger BRCA+ ladies, your DD might appreciate being able to communicate with others her age... With the recent on air admission that she is BRCA+, Christina Applegate (Samantha WHO?) has taken away much of the taboo/fears of testing /being BRCA...at least I pray so. Hugs,Marcia |
Thanks for telling us your exciting news. I hope you will post a reminder when it is closer too.
|
I'll be sure to watch it!
|
Mark your calendars.. ..Wednesday the 1st of October,PBS..."In the Family"

Lexi |
Thank you! I plan to watch and I've passed along the information you posted to friends and relatives that have breast cancer in the family.
|
Just a bump to remind everyone to check their local PBS listings. Apparently not everyone will be able to see it :(
Hugs,Marcia |
Marcia, it is a little tricky to find in the tv guide. It is under "to be announced" and in HI it is on at 10:00pm.
I had to do some google research to find it. Maryanne |
This is being run tonight in Illinois at 9:00pm on WTTW and again Oct 5th (in the middle of the night)

Dear Marcia,
Thanks for the heads up...will certainly watch and what a perfect time to air the program on the beginning day of Breast Cancer awareness month. jean |
Not running here
Have checked both my local PBS program guides and do not see this program listed yet. One is only for two weeks so may run it later in the month.
"Point of View" is the umbrella title of the slot In the Family will run in. There are several other topics being run in that slot locally. Hope it will surface and I will keep checking or maybe even call the stations. |
Marcia
