Thyroid and radiation?

I was just wondering about the throid. My Sx onc ordered a TSH level this past week due to my having radiation therapy and I was wondering if anyone has had a problem?

I received extra radiation to my supraclavicular node region as I had a tumor there. My oncologist told me that sometimes radiation therapy causes a gradual decrease in thyroid activity and it should be monitered over time. He said that this change is gradual and often missed so I too am monitered. So far so good....lol.

Thank you for your replies. I am glad to report that my test came back in the normal range! I guess it will need to be monitored periodically.
