Side effects of T-Dm1

I apologize for the redundancy as I know everyone that's been involved in this trial has already mentioned flu like symptoms the first day and an easier time afterwards, but I have to ask again. Caryn just her first weekly infusion yesterday at about 1:00 and is still experiencing a tough headache and high level of achiness. None of the nurses could share anything with her so I just want to confirm when these effects began to lessen for each of you and that the subsequent treatments were much easier. I just want to make sure that I give her accurate information.

Thanks to all,
Eric

Hi Eric,
I felt the same way. It should get better with each treatment.

Hi Eric,
First tx - fever/chills that night, flu like with fever declining over the next 2 days
2nd tx - low grade fever for 2 days, and a bit headachy
3rd tx - no fever, no headache

But on all 3 times, I have been very tired the night of the infusion.

Seems to be getting better.

Caryn is on the weekly infusion schedule, so may have lesser side effects - I'm on the 3 week dose.

Hi Eric, My first infusion I had flu like symptoms for 3 days, today was my second infusion and I asked them to cut the benyedril from my pre meds which they did and I have had absolutely no side effects from it at all. Hope this helps, mykentuckyhome

Thank you all. Is everyone getting benadryl? Caryn didn't.

Hi Eric,
I had no meds. I was treated today and am up late because I have so much school work to do tonight.
Best wishes,
Barbara H.

Hi Eric,

I've had no premeds - although last infusion my nurse wanted to give me some benadryl and I refused. She fought back, I won. The duration and severity of my "flu like" symptoms has decreased with each infusion.

the benadryl is for the runny nose, and rash... it also can cause some drowsiness..
you can also use over the counter claritin and or zyrtec for symptoms withou the drowsiness...

the benadryl is not typically a problem.. be happy they offer it.. i would be more concerned if they denied it..

run to live..
