Mammo last Friday...and again today.

I had my 1-year mammo on Friday. I didn't post until today, as my rad ONC. still had my 6-month mammo (from October), so they couldn't compare until today. The area of my lumpectomy had "changed" so they brought me back in for an extra-squishy view. He said that he couldn't rule BC out, but told me to have my surgeon US it, as I have a scheduled follow-up appointment with him in the morning.

The throbbing just below my collarbone and in my neck has gotten worse over the last few days. My arm (2 nodes removed) seems to be having lymphedema symptoms for the last two weeks, which I have not had before. I told my husband, as my pessimistic little self loves to do, that it will play out tomorrow one of two ways: he will look at it, and say not to worry, that it is scar tissue settling into the lumpectomy area and that the throbbing in my chest and neck is muscular (which my ONC has been saying for months), OR he will "suspect", send me for a biopsy which will come back BAD and the throbbing will be lymph node involvement.

There, I got it out. Have I become too much of a blogger, and less of a whimperer? LOL

Will you let you all know how it pans out.

Take care and have a wonderful night,

My prayers are with you and I wish you lots of good luck!

Praying for an "all clear" from everyone.

Cherub, I'm praying for good results and peace for you and that you don't worry too much. Love ya, Bill

Thanks, everyone. Like I said, it is just good to get those worst fears out there. Somewhere. We all have them, I think, from time to time and I just feel so much better not holding it in.

Hugs to all of you!

Praying you have good news.

Your good thoughts must have worked...it's scar tissue, so Option #1. :) He looked at the films, and did an US as well. He said that there are not upset lymph nodes, so once again the throbbing chest area is going to have to be attribued to either chemo or Herceptin. There is either a lot "they" don't tell you, or just don't know going into all of this!

I do have a small cyst, but he said it is a simple cyst and nothing to be concerned about.

So, my husband says I have covered all my bases for at least (oh, I don't know) another week or so. LOL

Take care,

Yippee! Scar tissue is good news. It's been 2 1/2 years since my lumpectomy, and only in the past few months have I been pain free in that area. Keeping my fingers crossed. Pamper that arm so there's no chance of lymphadema developing.

Yay!!! Great news Krista!!! Now you can breathe and I hope you celebrate!

Great news Krista! Now relax--a least for a week!

Krista

I am very happy for you. For the record, over 3 1/2 years out - I still get tightness and shooting feelings in my lumpectomy scar. It is worse when going through drastic temperature changes which happen alot in the Spring and the Fall (70 degrees one minute and 35 the next).

I have also had a cyst scare in my unaffected breast (but that breast had had a past UNRADIATED dcis) so I know the fear(s) you have had.

Don't be afraid to share. It is the real reason we are here.

juanita 04-02-2008 06:48 PM

I am so happy for you!

Krista, No one said this journey would be easy.

Thank God! That's Great News!

Now, Don't Worry, Be Happy!
Hugs,
Jo
