~Mint Gum...Did You Know This??

Ed had his regular appointment with his Oncologist and did the basic health checks. Blood pressure stable as always, pulse, etc. Now you all know that I take blood pressure, pulse and temperature daily with Ed. Most of the time it is perfect.

When they did the temperature it was 101.9!!! His temperature does run a little lower than the average 98.6, always has. He had mint gum in his mouth and asked if this would cause his temperature to go up that high in 30 minutes???

Temperature does rise with mint gum!! Wanted to save someone having to go on antibiotics if possible, not to mention a bit of a health scare in your doctors office.

Weird, never heard that, but good to know! Since my normal temp also runs low (96.5ish) - whenever I have a slight temp at check-up time, my nurse and onc usually give me a hard time because I seem to always drink a hot tea right when I get to the waiting room... LOL, always shows up on the thermometer...
