Good news!

I don't post very often, I do respond at times. I just wanted to share with all of you, as you keep me grounded and I have benefited from many of the posts, some good news. I am 1 yr 6 months out of treatment and I had a lump that I was concerened about. I just saw my surgeon yesterday and he did an ultrasound which confirmed that what I was feeling was scar tissue from my surgery. I also had a Mamogram, on the non operation side, prior to seeing him and it was A-1. Which is the best you can get! Also I had been in a study with therapies that were not the normal therapies, and out of all the women that were in the study, we are all NED. I don't expect any replies from this post, I was just so excited by my visit with him that I had to share. If you know anyone that is just starting on this journey, you can let them know that there is hope!

I Just Love When It's Scar Tissue

GREAT NEWS, ALICE. Thanks for sharing it. We love good news. I often hear it's scar tissue, and I cheer each time. Who cares? This sharp gasping pain in my side that I've had for yrs, they tell me it's scar tissue. I'm happy, with the pain. I get ev 6 mnth transvaginal pelvic sonograms to be told my ovaries are beautiful (just checking) and I'm happy. And no one sees anything in my CT scans, chest/abd/pelv.

So what is this unusual treatment that has all the women NED?? Pray tell us, Alice. I think we'd all be interested in knowing. Good to hear from you. Keep on posting. It's good for the Soul -- yours and ours. ANDI :)

Well I just replied to your last post on your friend. I hope you get It. I supose I should update my signature since it was just starting, when I joined, to have diagnosis and treatments on after my name.
I HAD stage 3 IDC multifocal w node envolvment
I had neo-adjuvant chemotherapy, surgery, radiation
4 x dose dense AC
3 weeks of Carboplatin, Taxol, Herciptin with 1 week Herceptin alone for 4 months. Then surgery, then 35 radiation treatments.
At the time Carboplatin was being used for stage 4 only and they were not giving the Herceptin along with chemo as much.

thanks for posting your good news. I love to hear about when our fears turn out to be something 'normal'! My last fear was a "pimple-like' thing on my scar line...convinced it was bad...you all know the drill!!! it WAS a pimple...go figure!!!

Alice, Its ALWAYS great to hear good news. That is just fantastic! It must of been a big relief to find out that was only scar tissue. Yeah! May you and NED remain a happy couple. :)
