Xeloda and B Vitamin

I am new to the board. I have just started Xeloda. I remember my onc. telling me to take B vitamin, but I don't remember how much. Does everyone need to take B vitamin with Xeloda. I will also be starting Tykerb as soon as I can get it.

Hi Koolmom, I too have just started Xeloda and although my onc has not told me B6 would be beneficial I have read that it can help with the hand and foot syndrome, therefore I am taking it. I take about 200mg a day but I think this is a very low dose. Some people take more. I'm sure someone else will be along soon to help you with this.

Good info! I will start Xeloda either tomorrow or Monday and want to start again with my vits... I also plan to start my glutamine again too. (as well as drinking (haha) EVOO every day... not really.)

I've taken 200mg B-6 a day for the past 20+ months with 'good' results.... no H/F. However, my dose of Xeloda has been 'low' at 2000mg total a day.

I just can't say it often enough: DOSAGE DOSAGE DOSAGE is the key to minimising side effects of the Xeloda. Should you experience side effects that bother your quality of life, get your dosage reduced until the 'right' amount for you is found.

best wishes,
pattyz
