Less than 12 hours to go...

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to let the prayer warriors out there know that I am scheduled for my Radical Mastectomy in just a few short hours. I go in THursday at 10:30 for prep and then off to the O.R. around 12 noon. I am anxious and nervous, probably more anxious to get this all going and see where I stand with any lymph node involvement or what. I have been on Taxotere/Carboplatin/Herceptin since Jan 2007 and the 7cm tumor is just about gone....after I heal from this surgery I will finish the 2 rounds left of the TCH and then do my year of Herceptin and then go on the Tamoxifin...so far anyway thats the plan. Please keep me your prayers. I will do recon after all my chemo is completed....but this is sure going fast. I thank you all in advance for your thoughts and prayers...God Bless all of you and your families.

In His Name,
Tricia V.

Prayers to a successfull operation.
And when you recover a little and get back to typing, please let us know how it is that you got to have your operation during the middle of your chemo? I had just been reading on this list that chemo after the operation--as well as before, for those that need it, is the way to go to mop up any of those beasties that might have gotten loose in the blood. Yours is the first I have read where this actually happened.
Gentle Hugs

Tricia: You're in my thoughts and prayers. It's easy to say, but let go and let God, and may God bless you (and yours) and the surgeon.

I had Surgery after chemo too. The neatest part about it was feeling that tumor shrink. I could really feel it shrink. I was suprised when I got my results of my lymph node inolvement. Because I could not feel my tumor anymore I thought all the cancer was gone. I was wrong and was really disappointed. It sounds like you are more prepared. My best advice is to make sure to keep heat off the area, I am convinced my lymphedema was caused by a heating pad.Best wishes for a speedy, speedy pain free recovery!!!!
