Herceptin Question????
 

Can anyone tell me how long herceptin will linger in our bodies after treatment has been stopped??? I've been off herceptin for about 2 months now due to tumor progression and decreased heart function.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Herceptin has a half life of 20.8 days. What this means is half of the drug is still in your body 20.8 days later. Then, from what is left (the half that is left) - half is gone in the next 20.8 days etc etc. So, it does stay around awhile - probably at least 3 months or so.

SIX MONTHS WAS QUOTED TO ME , BUT THERE IS A PAPER THAT THE RATE AT WHICH HERCEPTIN "LEAVES THE SYSTEM" CAN VARY BY AS MUCH AS 400% in some people.
