Had my consult today to see if I am a candidate for the cyberknife procedure for my brain mets.
It was very positive- My EBAR radiation I had last August evidently wiped out 3 of the 6 tumors diagnosed at that time. The 3 remaining are very small and so I am considered a good candidate for the cyberknife. They will be calling to schedule a planning schedule to do a CT and MRI of the brain. They do their own as it is a very detailed precise one (more so than the usual CT and MRI I guess). They also have to make my "mask" (the Hannibal Lector mask as I refer to it) This session takes a few hours then they will schedule the actual procedure. I am very excited about it and hope it will have good results. The good news is that unlike WBR which is a one time deal (cant be repeated) this can be done several times as needed. High technology is an amazing thing and we are so lucky to have this available. Just thought I would update. God Bless . |
You know, with your experience and mine, others will have more of an idea of what to expect with this 'newer' radiation treatment. And I think that's great!
I emailed you my posts didn't I?? Anyone could do a search and enter "Cyberknife" to see my Cyberknife part one and part two experiences. And you are so right, this procedure can be repeated if necessary. yes, technology can be wonderful! bighugs, patty xoxox |

I was wondering if anyone here knew whether or not if any Kaiser facility had or offered the cyberknife rather than the gamma knife--anyone know?
