Just wondering if anyone out there had a facebook.... I thought it might be a fun way to get to know each other a little better- to see family, friends, other interests, etc.

I haven't signed up for this but will check it out. When I was first diagnosed a bunch of the ladies on the Komen board told me about www.carepages.com so I set one up there with pics etc..you have to register to visit a page and put in the exact address. Mine is Survivortricia if anyone gets bored and would like to check it out.

I have stepchildren, nieces, and nephews, so it's a fun way to connect. It's also great for picture sharing.

I tried searching for a few members, but ran into some multiple listings for people with the same name. Then I checked mine and found there were lots of Anna Fang facebook members.

I think you can make your Facebook account pretty private - you just have to be aware of setting it when you set up your account. You can make it so people can search for you on Facebook if they know your email or name, or not allow people to search for you.

Even if you allow yourself to be searchable, people can not view your full profile until they send you a Friend request and you agree to it. And you can grant certain Friends certain privileges.

For example, my friend's daughter who is college age allows her mother to see only certain parts of her profile...doesn't want her mom to know everything she's up to!

I see facebook as very safe, if you use the privacy settings. You get to choose from the beginning who gets to see your profile and who does not. If you choose to have a private account, people have to be approved by you before they can view your profile.

Hi All....I haven't been posting much to this site but read it often. I have a facebook - Laura Clarke Murphy - and would love to add to my friends!
