Needing positive support

I have not posted for a while. I have been reading postings here off and on when I've had time.

I've been quite busy seeing various doctors, contacting offices etc. I don't even know where to begin.

The happy part of the story - I had a great last pet scan about 5 weeks ago, for the first time it seems the chemo is working good. However, when they did the scan of the met in my brain it was not good. It did not stop growing. However, the doctors believe there is a chance I am still treatable.

Monday morning I will be having brain surgery to have as much of the tumor removed as they can and will have gliadel wafers implanted by it to hopefully kill the rest. It is in the brain near the language center. I am scared.

If there is anyone out there who knows anything positive about this, I sure could use hearing about it.

Barb,

You have my full support.

I know how you feel. had brain surgery on Oct.17 to remove a lesion that was 1.9 cm x 2.6 cm, or almost an inch. It was also near my speech center in the left frontal load, but far enough away to not cause a problem. I did not have the gliadel wafers.

This area is easy for surgeons to reach so I know the location will help them get out as much as possible.

Why might the doctors have believed that your tumor was not treatable? Because of it's location near the speech center? Because of its size? Both?

I'm praying that all will be well, that the tumor will be removed that the wafers kill the rest, and that you have a quick recovery.

The scan results sound great!

Joan
