~MichelleH Loves Gardening~Plant A Flower With Me For The Ones She Cannot

Michelles favorite things to do this time of year is to garden, even on the Tykerb/Xeloda she worked right through the pain and swollen hands to plant that garden. She is still fighting to get back on tract and grab ahold of this reoccurence. Since she is unable to plant this year nor reap its harvest I am wondering if.........

....we could plant atleast one special flower or vegetable to honor our Dear Warrior?? While planting it could we say a healing prayer or have positive thoughts sent for her well-being?? Maybe we could start a post telling her of what we ended up planting. She is unable to visit the site but I will be printing and sending all our posts.

When we watch it sprout and grow and flourish and blossom, we could think special thoughts along the way for Michelle!! While she is concentrating on healing we would have a unique tribute of our own for her. I know this gesture will make her heart smile, Michelle will be besides herself with joy.

What do you think, are you with me?? Love to all>>Believe51

PS: I will be planting vibrant 'Grape Hyacinths' over the weekend!!

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_9_32.gif What a wonderful thoughtful idea Marie!

Do you know if Michelle has a favorite flower or plant? or favorite flower color?

I, too, love gardening and I felt very deprived last year when I wasn't able to do any. I certainly hope to make up for it this year. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_9_4v.gif

What a lovely idea:)

Thanks for suggesting it marie, I've planned to go to the garden centre this weekend as will choose something really pretty and colourful and have Michelle in mind when I'm planting.

I'll plant something pretty and happy on Friday afternoon! And I'll talk to my plant and tell it all about Michelle and her courageous battle; so that the plant knows to flourish inspite of who is planting it! Love to Michelle and thanks Marie! ma

What a wonderful idea I will be planting something beautiful for Michelle. And I hope and pray she gets back on track soon. Dear Lord please here our prayers. All my love.

Marie, what a great idea! Maybe you could start a new thread in the keeping your mind off of BC "MichelleH's Garden" and we could go there and list what we've planted for her. As you all know, I love to plant Tulips (wink, wink, Pink-Pink). I also like the idea of saying a special prayer for her as we plant.

Hey Friends

Could not wait for the weekend to plant, I actually did it last night and although they were not supposed to root for several weeks & then pop up out of the soil, they are already bursting out! The amazing thing about it it that they did produced a great root system and are about 1/2" above the soil! Guess they could not wait either!! Hehehe.

Joanne, I did speak with Michelle's husband last night because in all the time I have known her she has never been clear about favotites. He too mentioned that in all these years she never picked favorites for anything. Michelle simply loves all growing things and appreciates all color. Anything you plant will touch the lives of these very special people.

And yes Bill, I will start a thread named "MichelleH's Garden of Hope" or such......good idea. Now do not 'utter' another word about it! (winking back at 'ya)

Beautiful thought, Marie. So LIKE you.

My grape hyacinths are already out in full color - they are usually in line with the "regular' hyacinths and daffodils.

I have some more beautiful primroses in bright colors to plant with Michelle in mind if our weather ever gets spring-like again! Been snowing south of Seattle the past two days! Tried here but did not stick.

Great idea! It is raining today but I already have a bulb ready to plant for her. Hopefully I can do it tomorrow.
My very best childhood friend, Cheri, died 10 years ago from a very rare form of cancer - Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma (she was 32). I promised that no matter where I lived I would plant a tree for her. This is my second house and right now the Cleveland Pear tree I planted for her is in full bloom right outside of my kitchen windows. I live close to my first house and I drove by it a couple of weeks ago to see how Cheri's tree was doing there. It was so tall and strong. It is a wonderful idea Marie and very meaningful.
Once our flowers bloom lets post pictures of them!
Hugs ~ Ruth

Count me in as soon as it dries out enough here and if it ever decides to stay warm. Got lots of seeds all ready to go.

No planting for quite some time where I live. Way too cold. HOWEVER, sending love and prayers to Michelle today.

Hugs to you sweetie.

I am known far and wide for my brown thumb (except for tomatoes) but somehow I believe what I plant for Michelle will be beautiful and thrive.

Sheila 03-31-2008 05:12 AM

Like Mary Jo, if it ever warms up here enough to plant flowers, I will plant something special to bloom and give strength to Michelle....I like this idea Marie...you are so thoughtful!

Too early for flowers in Delaware, but yesterday I planted some beutiful red leaf lettuce. Michelle, I dedicate the lettuce to you. Later this month I will plant you some petunias. Get back on track and it won't be too late to garden in the summer.

SoCalGal 03-31-2008 08:04 AM

Hi Michelle-
I painted some flowers yesterday and will post a picture soon. Keep fighting!

The Daffodils are wind blown, but the tulips are breaking out

I planted a light yellow Gerbera Daisy...

Sherryg683 03-31-2008 05:28 PM

I have been away from the board far too long, I didn't even know she was having so many problems. I am so sorry this is happening. I will pray for her and although everything I plant turns to weeds, I will plant something special for her this week...sherryg683
