Great news! Still a step ahead of BRCA 2.
I had a total hysterectomy on 7/2/14 (and sling placed as a bonus).
No sign of malignancies! I am so very thankful that I beat cancer to my ovaries! Having the BRCA 2 positive and history of ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and fibroid tumors. I have no doubt that cancer would have popped up in the next 2-3 years. This puts me one step closer to my goal to remain NED. It hurts, but I am so relieved! Dr. Marie Rowe is an awesome, sweet, skilled obgyn. If anyone is in the Greenville, NC; please consider her for your doc. She prays for each patient before surgery. She is at Greenville Women's clinic. Happy 4th and blessings to my HER2 family! |

Re: Great news! Still a step ahead of BRCA 2.
Loren,
Glad you took the action to prevent other types of cancer. When I finally had the hysterectomy/oophorectomy due to family and personal cancer history plus a tiny BRCA 1 (Variant of uncertain significance), the surgeon told us afterwards that there was hyperplasia found on the lining of the uterus. It takes a while to recover - walking 30 minutes a day helps. Sending you good vibes. |
Re: Great news! Still a step ahead of BRCA 2.
Jackie,
Thanks! Walking 15 minutes is challenging, because I begin to feel faint. A friend has a pool. I will be getting in it 5 times a week as soon as my gynecologist checks on me. Your timing for your hysterectomy was impeccable! Way to go! Have a great day! Loren |
