3 years cancer free
April 19 2009 will mark my 3 years since having surgery for her2 breast cancer. Time definitely has a way of rapidly marching forward. I count my blessings daily. I have had 4 surgeries, not all breast cancer related, in the last 6 years and yet I am here to say, I am doing quite well. I made a decision years ago after my first surgery to always pick myself up and keep going and so far I have been able to do just that thank goodness. I haven't been very active this past year but I have peeked in every now and then. I was sorry to hear about Donna's passing. It is always difficult to hear about the loss of another Her2 sister. I have been well but lately dealing with a torn rotator cuff. Always something. This too shall pass. I hope everyone had wonderful holidays. I recently met a newly diagnosed her2 patient who knew nothing of this site. I wish there was a way to get info about this forum out to more doctors so they in turn could refer patients to it for support. I don't know what I would have done without it and all of you when I was in such great need of info and support back in 2006. I will never forget all the help, support and outpouring of love from everyone here. So as I celebrate my 3 year cancerversary, let me take this moment to say thank you, thank you, thank you to all you beautiful and wonderful sisters. Good health to all.

Rina,
Congratulations on your three year mark. Amelia |
Thank you all for your congrats and for celebrating along with me this very important milestone.
Sheila, you are right, we do have to get together again. So sorry I missed everyone in Chicagoland last month. Look at you Sheila, beaming with all those adorable grandchildren. |
Rina,
I suppose you know the third anniversay is almost a certificate of your cancer disease has been cured. For HER2 patients, the three year period is almost like 5 years for non-HER2 patients. Great achievement, and my congratulations. |
Rina,
Congratulations!! What great news!! kz |
Yay!! Congrats on your three year milestone!! I wish you nothing but good health ahead!!

Mazel Tov Rina on cancerversary #3... May you have many, many more.
all the best caya |
Ann, thank you for enlightening me with the excellent prognosis. I really didn't know just how important reaching 3 years was. I always thought reaching 5 years was when you could start to . I don't want to get too over confident though for as you know, many have recurred after even 10 years or more. However, I choose to celebrate every year and thank God for each he gives me. Thanks to everyone else for sharing my joy in reaching this milestone. My hubby and I went out to dinner tonight to celebrate this and the end of his grueling tax season. Love to all.

Congratulations, Rina! Many more to you!

3 -year club with Rianana
I am going to piggy back onto Rianana's cancerversary. I am 3 years from my DX on 4/18/06. Wow it feels good to be 3 years cancer free. And I really liked the post that said that 3 years was a good mark for us HER2ers. I too was thinking I was waiting for the 5 year mark.
This site continues to be my comfort zone and go to place. A big thank you to all of our buddies here for their support and knowledge. Catherine |
