Question
Hi
Just recently moved from New Jersey to Virginia (Roanoke area below Lynchburg) and I am looking for recommendations for doctors to follow my health. I only have 2 Herceptin treatments left and will begin looking after that to change to doctors here. Does anyone live in the area or have an idea how I can find a decent, compassionate, thorough doctor. Thanks Tracy |
Re: Question
Tracy,
Just passed your message to a friend who's a Medical Practice Manager for NOVA-GI in that area. She knows a lot of doctors (they are her clients) and should be able to find a good one for you. Meanwhile, you might want to check out the cancer support group in the local hospital/local area and see what local patients say about certain doctors... Moving is a lot of hassel... Remember to rest, eat, drink... |
Re: Question
Tracy,
You can always count on Jackie for good advice!! :) And, yes, please remember to take care of yourself during these hectic "getting settled" days. hugs! Denise |
Re: Question
Just got a reply from her:
"I was asking my staff exactly where Lynchburg is and it's pretty far south west from here, about 3-4 hours drive. If Tracy does not mind traveling to the DC area, my oncologist is Thomas Butler at 703-280-5390. He's wonderful. M" Now I do not think Dr. Thomas Butler http://www.healthgrades.com/physicia...-2n7t6/address is a breast cancer specialist. But he might be able to refer you to someone in your area. |
Re: Question
Thank you Jackie I will look into the hospital here in Roanoke and definitely will keep Dr Butler in mind. I am doing ok. Still driving to NJ for my Herceptin every 3 weeks till my insurance changes so its a long 51/2 hour ride each way but hopefully worth it. Only have one left then I am done all treatments and surgery. Then I can just concentrate on keeping the "beast" away.
