Tykerb
I am currently getting Herceptin treatments - I have never heard of Tykerb - when I saw it listed here I googled it and found that it was approved for advanced breast cancer.
Is this only approved for advanced breast cancer? Do they use it with Herceptin? I was looking at some of the trials and they listed Metastatic breast cancer and advanced breast cancer separately, I always assumed they were one in the same - what is the difference? |
They are the same... Advanced is metastatic is recurrent is stage 4, etc, etc.

Tykerb is given to patients who have had herceptin and have recurrence.
There is a trial with Tykerb for early stagers who have not had herceptin, and that data will not be available for a while. Tykerb is another drug for us to use in case we have herceptin resistance. But as of this date it is not used as a front line med for Her2... Regards, jean |
