Ceesun, Ed had a few of the side effects and never the rash nor hand/feet problems. I also add that not having the rash no way proves the efficiency of the combo. Looks to me like you are rocking on forward girl. How are you feeling on these two wonder drugs? Please know that I have been a little preoccupied but you are on the daily prayers I say. Continued success showing cancer just who is boss!!>>Believe51

Hi Ceesun~
Just wanted to share w/you some info my Onc told me about the Tykerb "rash"...
First & foremost, remember toxicity is not indicative of efficacy, so you can't correlate how well the drug is working based on how the SE's present for each person.
And she said that in her experience, the Tykerb "rash" aka acne is typically fairly mild in BC pts. She said that the pics she's seen of mild/moderate/severe "rashes" are likely patients on other Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors, like Tarceva, with diagnoses other than BC.
I hope this eases your mind a bit & I hope you're continuing to tolerate the new combo well:)

Keep the Faith~

Hey Ceesun,

I remember when I was on the Tykerb/Avastin trial, I ratted out the chemo nurses to Dr. Rugo for telling patients that "the rash" meant it was working. (I didn't mean to be ratting them out, I just mentioned it)...well she just about blew a gasket, and told me that although with other TKI's in other cancer there did seem to be a correlation there was "NO DATA" proving a correlation in BC.

Sounds similar to what jml reported above.

We have enough to worry about without stressing over NOT having side effects, eh? Hang in there, my friend.

No rash for me either. For me, that was good because I was fighting a cancer rash so I was concerned I would not know what was what.
