Enchondroma-benign bone tumor

Hi Everyone, I've been away from here for a while, my bloodwork just wasn't coming back in the normal range for a couple of months and they were trying to figure out why. Had several tests done, ct, pet, x-ray, and mri. All followed up with a new blood workup. Most tests didn't show anything scary going on, but the mri found what the oncologist called and enchondroma in my right humerus. We don't know how long it's been there, I don't have any pain or even know it's there till the mri showed it. Has anyone else out there had one of these. I'm just a bit concerned knowing that I've dealt with the bc and being ER/PR+ and Her2+++. Are my chances greater for this benign tumor to eventually turn cancerous? Just one more thing to add to the list of concern.

not a big deal

Many people have enchondromas and never know it. There is no increased risk of it ever becoming cancerous because of your her2+ or ER+ status.

Some people have multiple enchondromas and it can run in families. If this is your only one the chance of it becoming cancerous is exceedingly small from what I have read.

Make this one LESS things to worry about.

Sue,

My daughter had an enchondroma in her right upper leg. It was discovered by an MRI after she had fallen while working and injuring her knee. The ortho doctor siad that many people have them and don't even know it but that an injury to the area can cause problems with it. That was 10 years ago and everything is fine with her.
