Skin Mets

I am totally floored. Was doing so well on 12 weekly Taxol & Herceptin - MRI showed tumors were shot to pieces, with no skin involvement. However, had skin punch biopsy due to rash on breast. Came back skin mets! Just found out last night! Surgeon is a little baffled since chemo worked on tumors. I have no idea what's in store for me or my family. Praying for guidance, for my family, and the doctors. Anyone else have an experience like this?

Re: Skin Mets

I've had skin mets since April this year. Am on tyverb/xeloda and herceptin. All other mets shrinking but the skin mets persist. Elaine posted lately about a trial in the US using Abraxane plus Aldara cream for skin mets, maybe you qualify for that. Best wishes and please let us know if you manage to get rid of them.

The same thing happened to me while I was on herceptin. I had a mastectomy, hyperthermia rads and xeloda/tykerb. I haven't seen the rash since. That was over two years ago.

Re: Skin Mets

Skin mets can be challenging. Please look in the clinical trial thread for a link about skin mets. The University of Washington Tumor Group is doing a study on skin mets using Abraxane and Immiquimod (Aldara) cream. There were also some fairly recent posts about skin mets in the her2 (Herceptin) thread on this site.
Good luck. Let us know how things are going after treatment for skin mets.
