Solitary papilloma, to excise or not?

I feel a little embarassed to pose this question, since my problem, relative to others, is so insignificant. In the other good breast, pathologist found 2mm solitary papilloma lesion. Many articles I read, they said just to leave it alone. Both my pathologist and my surgeon advised to excise it, citing increased (up to 15%) risk of its change to cancer. Then there is the wound initiated risk of starting a metastasis somewhere, altho my surgeon sort of laughed it off. The wound theory doubled my chance of metastasis and reduced the survival rate to less than 10 years. Are there anyone having the same problem and resolved the issue? My surgeon scheduled a day surgery second week of May and I have to make a quick decision.

CLTann,

Please don't be embarassed about your question. You are in an unusual situation, and it helps to have all kinds of information shared on the Board.

I think doctors tend to laugh off things that they don't know much about. I would try to find a doctor that was familiar with the wound signaling research for another opinion.

A 15% chance of something happening is also an 85% chance it won't happen.

Best of luck to you with your decision,

Hopeful

I have been wondering about you but have found myself so engrossed with research that it slipped my mind to ask how you are. I did do my best to read posts on my phone while I was away but really wanted to ask you how things are going once I returned, Ooops. Please do not ever feel embarrassed about posting anything at anytime. This is what we are all here for and how we learn about so many things that doctor's cannot always teach us, nor books.

I do not have advice but I wanted to know that I have been meaning to ask about 'you'. I will keep you close to heart and wish that whatever your decision is, it is the perfect decision for you.

So my friend, I bump this up with the hopes of getting you an answer for us all. Best luck with the decision making, this is not always an easy task. Thinking about you.>>Believe51

Can you zap it? Every darn thing that happens to us makes us crazy unless we get some kind of answer. Ask away! We must feel like we can get our "little matters" dealt with here. ma
